How To Find Your Business Direction

Do you struggle to find your direction?

…If you do, keep reading to discover the simple steps that will help you overcome that lost feeling in business!

I imagine your mind is a busy place. Like many small business owners and creative entrepreneurs, you can be:

  • Thinking about new ideas

  • Remembering what bills need paying

  • Replying to a client

  • Talking to your spouse about what’s for dinner

… all at the same time! Sound familiar? 🤯🤯

But, a consequence of a busy mind is losing sight of your DIRECTION and this is certainly something you don’t want to ignore.

Your direction is a mind map to your goals! It is your vision for the future and the dreams that you desire to achieve!

Your direction MOVES YOUR BUSINESS FORWARD in whatever way you choose.

So, when you lack direction in your business, you can find yourself

  • Taking every client just for “the money”

  • Feeling unsuccessful in achieving your business goals

  • Not having any business goals

  • Operating from day to day

  • Saying things like “I don’t know what I’m doing”

And indirectly end up working with “stressful clients”, feeling ran down and burnt out, or worse - a failure.

Lacking direction will trigger sporadic decisions, a lack of motivation, a sense of underachievement and quickly lead to a loss in your sales, followers and business success.

If you have read this far, that tells me that you are wanting a solution to this! And I am so proud that you are wanting to find your direction in business!

That is why I have put together my top 5 tips that will help you back onto that road to achieving everything you dream of and more 👇👇

A Quick Exercise To Help You Find Your Direction :)

So, what is the best -  quickest way - to find your direction and get yourself back on the right path you ask??

Below I have put together a quick step by step that not only do I share inside the Mindful Business Hub - but that I also use personally in my everyday :) This step by step helps you to identify when you have lost direction and then provides you with the tools you need to find it again :)

— Step 1: Train your mind to notice when you feel lost.

Just like everything we do in business, training your mind to notice when you feel lost - rather than staying stuck and being unaware of a potential block - will always help you to move forward. So, a great way of making sure you stay on track, is to be aware when you aren’t  :)

You will have noticeable signs unique to you that show you when you are lacking direction. For me, I withdraw. I stop putting myself out into the world, I see competition in my industry, I lose my confidence, I feel unworthy and I sit at home with FOMO! The second I start to feel any of these emotions, I know my mind lacks direction.

Acknowledge what these are for you. Be honest with yourself and in the words of Ted Lasso 🙃🙃 “Be curious”.

— Step 2: Quieten the noise.

Bring your focus back to you and your business. Remind yourself of WHAT you do and WHY you do it. Sometimes when we struggle to find direction, it is because we are so focused on our surroundings (and everything happening around us) that we forget about what we are here for. You are a business owner for a reason and that reason gave you your direction and purpose to begin with. What is this for you?

If you find where you are currently doesn’t align with what you do and why you do it, then maybe you need to set a new direction for your business :) How exciting is that!

— Step 3: Go back to basics.

What would you love to achieve in the next 12 months? Really let yourself be honest with this question and write down all the things you would like to accomplish over the next 3 - 12 months. JUDGEMENT FREE!

Your answer here will be a great source for your direction. This foundation question will show you the path you are meant to be on and provide you with your next steps :)

— Step 4: Reach out

Speak to someone you trust candidly about your business, specifically the points we just discussed - your what, your why and what you want to achieve. Talking with someone will verbalise the thoughts in your mind and you will find clarity in this action. A different perspective also helps too 🙃

— Step 5: Have your goals in sight.

When you are reminded of where you are heading, it makes it harder to get lost along the way :) Having your goals in sight each and everyday will help greatly with this! Try downloading my annual goal planner if you need a little template to get started :) See the homepage for this.

And lastly,

Remember - you set your direction! No-one else can determine the outcome of your business or tell you what way to go - unless you let them. Your direction solely depends on the choices you make and the goals you wish to achieve!

I hope that this blog provides you with a simple and quick way to find your direction once again. The world needs what only you can provide! And if you need a little more guidance in this area, you can find the best ways to connect with me 👇.
