What To Do When You Can’t Be IN Your Business

 

LOCKDOWN…

… if you can’t show up in your business how you normally would, it doesn’t mean your business stops too! Let me explain…

Our little town like many has been experiencing lockdown these past few weeks/months. Business doors have been shut, services haven’t been operating as normal and let's call it what it is... it's been HARD for small business all round!

But... being in lockdown only makes you aware of problems you ALREADY had in your business.

Take lack of online presence for example. Or, no form of communication with clients other than “in person”.

👉 If I asked you right now how often you sent an email to your list keeping them up to date, what would your answer be?

👉 If I asked you what your social media strategy was and where are you directing your clients to (your CTA - call to action) what would you say?

So often business owners have great intentions, but, the excuse of having “no time” to implement what you know will move your business forward. Then when something happens that takes you from your normal routine, it really can affect you.

So that is why I thought there is no better time than now to share with you a few little tips to help you see the amazing tools you have in business right now - even with the news that we might just be coming out of lockdown soon! Remember, times like now only show you what is already there :)

What To Do When You Can’t Be IN Your Business


— BE OPEN TO SEEING NEW OPPORTUNITIES

Your mind is the most powerful tool you have! If you have an open mind then anything is possible! When you can’t operate how you normally would, or you are away from your business, this gives you the TIME + NEW PERSPECTIVE you need to see things differently!

It gives you the space for you to provide something new :)

There are so many ways you can still show up, sell and provide your expertise by using the online space! Have a think about…



— CONNECT WITH YOUR CLIENTS IN NEW WAYS

I know that as a business owner you thrive on seeing and/or interacting with your clients in some way. That personal connection is what makes you stand out! But, when you can’t be there for your clients it can be hard! If you are missing them at the moment, then I can guarantee that they are missing you too! So take this time to reach out to them in new ways.

  • Phone calls - If you have regular clients, I am pretty sure you would have their phone numbers. Why not give them a call?

  • Snail mail - Yep, the old fashioned way :) That warm and fuzzy feeling of taking out a letter from your mailbox that ISN’T a bill!! You know what I am talking about :)

  • Social media - Probably the most easiest platform :)

  • Email - You will hear me talk about email a lot, but it really is the best way to CONNECT with your clients online!!



— TURN A NEGATIVE INTO A POSITIVE

Rather than focusing on the negative, see the positives in your day.

Scenario 1:

  • Do you have a bricks and mortar store?

  • Are your doors physically closed?

Seeing your closed doors every day may not be the best for your mindset, so turn your free time into creating a motivational space at home for you to do your social media posts.

Scenario 2:

  • When you deliver your parcels to the post office, do you see parcels being collected from other shops?

  • Are you seeing other businesses doing really well?

Visualise your name on those parcels, your name next to that profile - use them as your inspiration and soon it will be you receiving those sales.

If you focus on the negative this is all you will create for your business - MORE OF THE NEGATIVE. So turn it around :) See the positive and trust me when I say your day will be a whole lot brighter :)


— TURN OFF FROM THE NOISE

If you can’t operate how you normally would in your business and you are seeing other businesses operating, other peoples posts doing really and this is getting you down - then you can TURN OFF from this. You have the power to choose what you take on board and if it doesn’t serve you then don’t let it in. Be mindful of your focus and stay in your lane. You have wholeheartedly go this!
